About

Healthy Homesteading blog is a collection of thoughts on health and natural living along with the joys of parenting that help provide a guidance in the journey towards a healthy mind body and soul.

I have always been into health and fitness, from a young age starting with playing sports and running long distances. When I was younger I could eat anything, I wanted and it did not matter. I was not always eating crap but I never held back from junk food. In college I never gained a ton of weight, but what I did gain showed in my face, so in my pictures I look about 30lb heavier than I was. I drank and partied a ton in college, but always managed to wake up the next morning and run at least 10 miles. I did not lead the healthiest lifestyle.

My passion for health and a natural lifestyle was sparked when I had my first daughter at 23. Something happened with my hormones after having my daughter, and I could no longer enjoy the weekend party with friends without paying the price of an extended hangover. It was time to start a new chapter in my life.

I started listening to health and fitness related podcasts while doing all of the chores of a stay at home mom, to learn what other people are doing to help improve their health, body and mind. I love hearing other people’s stories, the challenges they have faced and how living a healthy lifestyle has helped them overcome their challenges. Listening to podcasts has shown me a whole new side of this world of health and fitness. I have tried so many different diets and fasts, I like to experiment with my body to find what works best for me. What has been making me feel the best is making sure I eat whole foods of the best quality I can find.

I share my passion for a healthy lifestyle with my husband, 2 daughters (with another on the way), our dog, and chickens. I take care of my family, our animals, our house, and run a small cookie business. The cookie business has nothing to do with health living but a way for me to utilize my love for art and put food on the table for my family.

I have been trying my hand at homesteading, and a more holistic way of living for my family. I cook homemade dinners with the best produce we can afford, try to use homemade cleaning products whenever possible and have been playing around with essential oils. I have been composting, gardening, and raising chickens.

Join my family and I as we continue to grow and learn through our trials and errors, successes and failures, in hopes of helping others in their own journey towards:

  • Natural and healthy living as it relates to raising a family
  • Raising kids that are connected to nature
  • Understanding the toxins that we are exposed to daily and their alternatives
  • How we can heal naturally (without the Big Pharma)
  • Planning your healthy lifestyle (recipes, shopping lists, workouts, meditation, etc.
